One Day Highlights of Pozallo, Catania, Mt. Etna and Modica (Sicily) Guided Excursion
This is a very popular tour filled with history, charm and beauty and the fascinating Mount Etna:
Catania: Is Sicily's second (some say the first) largest city. Catania is steeped in history and is a very active, prominant and popular city. A short stop in Piazza del Duomo, surrounded by beautiful and impressive baroque monuments and the central lava Fontana Elefante (the symbol of the city). On to Via Etena which encaptulates the essence of Catania. You will encounter an impressive Sicilian outdoor and food market and rows shops, boutiques of every kind within a few minutes walk. You will also encounter a large number of cafés and restaurants and will have enough time for lunch.
Mt. Etna: The largest and most active volcano in Europe. The climb to the crater takes us through picturesque villages and an ever-changing landscape. The lower slopes of the volcano are extremely fertile with groves of oranges, lemons and other Mediterranean flora and of course vines which produce Sicily's best wines. We go through forests of chestnut trees which gradually give way to oak, beech, birch and pine.
Modica: Is an ancient city and one of Sicily's baroque gems, it is both proud and prosperous. The main street of Modica is "Il Corso" it is a typical Italian meeting place with majestic buildings and cafes. The beautiful church of San Georgio is an impressive monument, it was built after the earthquake of 1693 and it's facade beauty is further enhanced by its surrounding flight of 250 steps.

- Arrival at Pozzallo in Sicily. Pozallo is a typical Sicilian fishing village, gradually regaining its role as the main port of the province of Ragusa. The imposing Cabrera Tower is a 14th century silo.
- Pozzallo town 1st stop for coffee and fresh pastries and Sicilian delicacies. (not included in price)
- Departure for Catania in air-conditioned luxury coaches, accompanied by guides.
- On the way we pass:
- Noto, the baroque capital of Sicily;
- Stiracusa, with its world renowned Greek and Roman monuments;

- Continue to Mount Etna: From the Sylvester Craters at 2000 metres, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the vast base of Etna and the effects of the most recent eruptions.
